Sources.list update

ingalex.helloweb.eu has made an update on their sources list. I have changed it for u.s. usage .

You can also do this:

you can go to a terminal and type

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and add

deb http://www.ingalex.helloweb.eu/repository/intrepid/ binary/

then do

sudo apt-get update

and after that

sudo apt-get install listaIngalexIntrepid

You may have to change the repos with IT to US or download mine

my sources.list for intrepid

Here is a rather large sources.list that I customized for Intrepid Ibex. The site I made it with is in Italian. I had done a lot of editing for English use. There are Repositories that I added to it like XBMC and webmin as well others. This list would be for the Adventurous people For those who don't know to add repos the easier way in Ubuntu go to -->Applications-->Accessories-->Terminal

then type

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

then you can copy and paste the contents of my sources.list into yours. Enjoy!

Train new dogs

There is a saying that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. That means that you need to teach new people how to be better than todays people. History is good to know but i think that you need to know how to acquire knowledge and know skills for all walks of life. It should take half the time it takes now. Once that is out of the way, People should pursue whatever knowledgebase their learning skills would do best in.

I hate Indiana

The people here show resistance to rethinking how to do things. Most people scoff at people trying to attempt the implementing of new ideas. They speculate whether they will work. They go with the flow more often here. I can't leave Indiana. I can't drive and can't work.I have no place to go.

Linux howto on winning

I posted this today"well i'm sorry for double posting but i end up waiting too long for a response. yes i have the lastest version of mythtv. yes i have done this:
Setup mysql database mythconverg

Set the root password for the mysql database. (replace mysqlpassword with your own)

Open a Terminal window
> mysql -u root password mysqlpassword

Setup the initial database. Note - the mc.sql file should have been installed along with the mythtv documentation onto your system. The default location for this file is shown below, however it may have been relocated elsewhere according to your distribution's documentation rules, so you may have to use a search (find, locate, etc) tool to reveal its whereabouts. (The following command will prompt for password)
> mysql -u root -p < /usr/share/mythtv/sql/mc.sql

How to Reset the Root Password (Slackware):

Login as a root
> su -

Stop the database
> /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld stop

Set the initial file for a new root database password
> echo "SET PASSWORD FOR 'root'@'localhost' = PASSWORD('new_password');" > /var/lib/mysql/mysql-init

Change the user and group ownership
> chown mysql.mysql /var/lib/mysql/mysql-init

Start a database manually
> /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --init-file=/var/lib/mysql/mysql-init &

Login to the database as a root with a new password
> mysql -u root -p new_password
and i edited /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt.
the backend is running and it still cannot connect to the database.
i still get this: 2008-04-20 15:41:21.161 Using runtime prefix = /usr, libdir = /usr/lib
2008-04-20 15:41:21.370 Empty LocalHostName.
2008-04-20 15:41:21.481 Using localhost value of Bmans PS3
2008-04-20 15:41:22.022 New DB connection, total: 1
2008-04-20 15:52:03.321 Using runtime prefix = /usr, libdir = /usr/lib
2008-04-20 15:52:03.597 Empty LocalHostName.
2008-04-20 15:52:03.605 Using localhost value of Bmans PS3
2008-04-20 15:52:04.668 New DB connection, total: 1
2008-04-20 15:55:14.574 Unable to connect to database!
2008-04-20 15:55:14.603 Driver error was [1/2003]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.1.135' (110) only i changed it to 192.168.1.148.
there is also a host authentication failure message.
Never have i been so frustated by the lack of support and lack of users in the forums. if linux is to succeed, then users should try posting in one centralized location http://www.thelinuxvault.net/wiki/Main_Page.they should know that not everyone is smart and/or intelligent enough to use linux. I am not one of those people, but that does not mean I don't struggle with things.I can understand that double posting clogs forums, but old threads don't often get answered. There should be a unified notifier of already posted threads or a search engine where you type a question, a description and its topic with advance feature to reduce forum clutter and to help more people faster. So would it hurt you to check more often to prevent forum clutter? I will try to not double post.Seriously though what is being done is ridiculous.
I will make the last time i double post, So help me Dao."Within this quote is my idea.

I have decided

I think I should engineer networks.I get sick of doing repairs on other peoples machines at work. They have 600 regular PCs I get to repair. They all have XP. They all have to be managed individually. I would just turn them into thin clients with embedded linux with just 6 things six to maintain. I would have mostly web-based things like googleapps and district pbwiki. All the things i have found like edubuntu, wifi, offsite storage, and anything that is open source, cheap and free; I would implement into a school network or anything like that. That would be better instead of managing some sub standard network.

Learn from the fall of rome

We will fall just like Rome. The only way to prevent that is to learn from it. Rome fell because it got too big. It spread out too far. It also spent too much and kept the public distracted with sporting events to keep from seeing the corruption. Now is the time to act. We must reclaim what is rightfully ours. We must take back our future from reality bending politicians. We must unite as one. WE MUST ACT NOW!

Things have fallen apart

Everything is spiraling out of control now. All this ignorance I sense, leaves me in distraught. I loathe how these people know nothing. Technical Know How has plummeted. Talent is lack thereof. I put the blame on the DOE and the government for neglecting to nurture insight on technology. I must nurture it myself.

An intersting trick

You can convert a open office database file into a Microsoft access file as well as other formats by putting the file extension of another format in the title. That is good because now I can work on databases in study hall.

Now he is gone

My dad has died. It was from the aftermath of brain cancer. Though this maybe one of many blogs with no traffic, I still write because I feel like it. My dad left behind a mess of things
including his outlook express email. outlook express is a bad program. It is a pain to configure. The email is all that stands between me and a clean install. I also would like my mother to use the gmail account I setup for my dad from now on after I have reinstalled the OS.

More tech savvy people wanted

Why is there a shortage of tech savvy people? You would think that in this day and age there would be more power users, but there is not. Power Users are people who explore the inner workings of pc's. They also do tweaking with software as well as the OS. There are some people who don't even own a pc. That should not even occur. If we downsize DC however many people would not have this problem.
